من شب على شيء شاب عليه

This ceramic project is based on the Arabic proverb which says “Man shab ala shay’e shab a’layh”. A direct translation will be "those who grow on a certain habit, will age with that habit", and it is either a good or a bad habit. This proverb however is usually used for good habits as to encourage children taking on them. My artwork is a representation of that proverb that explains one of the good habits that a Muslim child take and that is reading the Quran. I presented this habit through the construction of a prayer book holder, with a wood texture and the alstroemeria flower growing all over it. The alstroemeria flower has a special meaning in the flower language, since it has a long life span, it is usually related to wishing for a long life or asking for a good life at an old age.
