A classical dance collaboration with India based artist Meera Krishnamurti, ‘Yukta’ was the manifestation of a desire to dance together in an informal, intimate, un-concert like format. This 60-min performance at Chandralekha’s SPACES (Chennai, India) in 2018 strung together choreographies from the Mohiniyattam repertoire along with a piece co-created by the dancers. ‘Yukta’ was as much about the joy of dance as it was about sharing space and finding invisible yet concrete connections. Through spatial exploration, the dancers attempted to extend beyond the self to touch one another and beyond.
