About
This infographic was awarded SILVER by SND (Society for News Design) and BRONZE in Malofiej-Infographic World Summit (as part of a portfolio) in 2013. My Design Director, Miguel Gomez, asked me todo something about the death of Neil Armstrong. We had already published a 'memorial' so I thought I'd do something different and use his death as a reason to revisit all of the lunar explorations in which Armstrong's 1969 Apollo 11 mission was such a big part of. Research and execution took time with this, luckily I had my then intern, Lizelle Maria Rodrigues, to help me out. Here's what the SND judges had to say: "This is fantastic. I'm a space nerd, and I want to take the time and go through all of this. You can spend an hour with this page, but they combined that with very creative design AND… when you execute something this hard SO well, like the reverse type, it pays off. They cared about this so much. There are subtleties throughout, and the detail of the ship is a great touch."
