A selected group of 20 artists, myself included, were given authentic shields crafted by real vikings to customise and display during the 2015 MEFCC. The theme was Game Of Thrones. I customised mine using leather, metallic beads and spikes, and acrylic paint. This was a lot of fun to do. From scouring Satwa for materials to ageing the shield with acrylics to painting and layering leather strips in order to form the Stark family's direwolf sigil. I very much liked the end product and you might have guessed I skipped sleep for a few days :)
