PHOSPHENE (new Fabio Weik’s Project)
A PHOSPHENE is a phenomenon characterized by the experience of seeing light without light actually entering the eye. The word phosphene comes from the Greek words phos (light) and phainein (to show).
Phosphenes can be directly induced by mechanical, electrical, or magnetic stimulation of the retina or visual cortex as well as by random firing of cells in the visual system. Phosphenes have also been reported by meditators (commonly called nimitta), people who go for long periods without visual stimulation (also known as the prisoner's cinema), or those who are using psychedelic drugs
IMAGE is critical to an artistic process, Weik works this concept, trying to represent inner energy that you see with the eyes closed.
An introspective journey, where the artist has tried to propose what he sees with his eyes closed in different emotional stages: anger, love, excitement, nervousness and anxiety, joy.
A trail of what a man sees with his eyes closed.
Energy pulses that trick your brain, make it subconsciously receptive, this is the primary purpose that an artistic product should have for the artist.
The artist uses chemical techniques and use of acids and metallic glitter, and inspired by the movement nuclearists, glazes craft corrode, and are transformed into sewage from the dark colors.
Weik attempted to reproduce what he sees when the eye is closed, is an analysis that turns the concept of image, but at the same time creates one.
The paintings can be restless, turbulent, psychedelic, actually follow the scientific principles to create a form of relaxation stimulated.
